Types of Treatments Offered

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for anxiety
CBT teaches a variety of tools to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It is the leading therapy to treat all types of anxiety, including general, social, and panic.

Prolonged Exposure (PE) for trauma
PE involves different types of exposure therapy to confront trauma related memories and avoided situations. It is proven to be one of the most effective trauma treatments for PTSD.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD
ERP includes approaching anxious situations (exposures) without engaging in compulsions (response prevention). The goal is to learn to tolerate fear and uncertainty. People realize their fears are unlikely to happen and are manageable.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills
DBT gives you practical tools to manage emotions, handle stress, improve relationships, increase mindfulness, and to live a meaningful life.

Behavioral Activation (BA) for mood
BA helps people improve mood by reducing avoidance, engaging in joyful activities, and building healthy routines, habits, and sense of accomplishment.

Meet Kim Marohl

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Wise Mind Counseling. I have been in practice since 2009. I commonly help people with anxiety and excessive worry, as well as emotion regulation concerns. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental space where one can better understand behaviors, emotions, and oneself. I support people in developing strategies to navigate life’s challenges, find balance, strengthen resiliency, and build a meaningful life.
I am committed to delivering the most effective care. I understand the importance of personalized support and adapting treatment to each person’s unique symptoms and goals. I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
CBT helps change unwanted thoughts and behaviors that are related to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and other challenges. Rather than taking a one size fits all approach, I provide various types of CBT to treat individual experiences, values, and strengths. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, relationships, trauma, or life changes, we will work together to identify patterns and tools that will create lasting change.
DBT teaches skills to manage strong emotions, intense relationships, stress, and impulsive behaviors. I am a Linehan Board Certified DBT Clinician (DBT-LBC). This is the gold standard of certification by the creator of DBT. This means I have extensive training and knowledge in DBT and have demonstrated the ability to provide adherent DBT. I have many years of experience delivering individual, family and group services in a comprehensive DBT program. I am passionate about helping people build a deeper understanding of emotions, learn effective ways to manage emotions, and increase self-awareness.
Commitment to Equity

Wise Mind Counseling is a woman owned and led business that prioritizes equity, diversity, and inclusion. All people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identification or disability are welcome.
Insurance
Accepted insurances include: Prevea 360, employees of Advocate Aurora, and United Healthcare Medical Assistance HMO (Badgercare).
Wise Mind Counseling is an out of network for any other insurances not listed as in network. Out of network means clients pay fees out of pocket. Payments are due at the time of service. Clients must use a card on file.
If you have out of network benefits, speak directly with your insurance company. This ensures you understand your plan. It is possible that counseling fees are reimbursed from the insurance company at the out of network rate. Alternatively, fees could be applied toward the out of network deductible.
Wise Mind Counseling does not work with insurance companies on behalf of clients related to out of network benefits. Clients are responsible for submitting their proof of payment, called a superbill, to insurance companies. This is necessary to access their out of network benefits. A superbill can be accessed through the client portal.
Medicaid and Medicare: Wise Mind Counseling is out of network for Medicaid and Medicare plans. Only United Healthcare Medicaid is accepted. Medicaid and Medicare will only reimburse for in-network services. A Medicare client can pay bypass in network services and pay privately at Wise Mind Counseling. Private pay is not accepted for those with Medicaid.
Why Choose
Wise Mind Counseling

Comprehensive Assessment

Experience and Expertise

Compassionate Care
Wise Mind Counseling completes thorough assessment to clarify diagnoses and goals. Without effective assessment, symptoms are often misdiagnosed and untreated. I work collaboratively to analyze behaviors, gain insight into patterns, and to create strategies for positive change. Outcome measurements are completed upon intake and used to measure progress throughout treatment.
I have dedication to training, consultation, and staying true to research based treatment. Therapy is delivered in a flexible and individualized manner.
I understand the vulnerability involved in seeking treatment. Providing a supportive environment is my top priority.
